Area residents had a second opportunity in under two weeks to have certain documents shredded at no charge to them.
ESB Financial organized the second Community-Wide Shred and Recycle Day on Friday after heavy demand Sept. 18. Vice President Karen Sommers says the big reason behind the event is to prevent identity theft, and she says identity theft and cyber crimes have been on the rise since COVID-19 started.
Another aspect of the event is environmental. Sommers says events like these help to limit stress on landfills.
After an initial rush of residents Friday, ESB Financial opened up the event to both residents and businesses, eliminating a five-box maximum as well.
