Lyon County closes out the week with a moderate decrease in active coronavirus cases while overall numbers continued their upward trend.
Friday, Public Health reported 30 new cases between reporting periods moving the overall total to 5,406 cases since late last March. 56 new recoveries were also noted dropping the active case total from 137 to 111.
Active hospitalizations remained even at 2. Deaths were also unchanged at 90 with one case pending final cause information from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
USD 253 Emporia Public School’s latest COVID-19 dashboard update showed an increase of two new staff positives bringing the year-to-date total to 23. New staff quarantines is also at 23 for the year following an increase of three quarantines over the past week.
Student positives rose by 19 putting the year-to-date total at 126. The number of student home quarantines rose by 15 to 206 and modified quarantines increased by 57 to 371 on the year.
48 vaccinated students returned to school over the past week following a COVID-19 exposure.
