Business was busy, steady and welcomed at the Flint Hills Community Health Center’s annual drive-thru flu shot clinic Friday morning.
According to FHCHC CEO Renee Hively a line of vehicles spanned from the health center parking lot onto West 15th Ave. right at the start of the event causing some quick traffic flow adjustments. She says it is a good problem to have as it means individuals are getting their flu vaccines.
She reminds residents that being vaccinated this year is all the more important as fears of a potential twindemic between flu and COVID-19 still linger.
Exact vaccination totals are currently pending, however, Hively says she is confident they may match or surpass last year’s numbers which saw more than 200 residents receive their flu shots.
If you were unable to attend the drive-thru clinic Friday, you can still receive your shot at the health center during regular appointments or by walking into the clinic beginning Monday. The flu shot is free for those with insurance and costs $30 for those uninsured.
