Next week, Newman Regional Health is holding a special remembrance ceremony and it wants community members to take part.
In honor of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, the hospital will have its first Wave of Light ceremony at 7 pm Oct. 15. Women’s Life Center Director Heather Aylward says this is an important event to let families know they are not alone if they have lost children to pregnancy loss.
The ceremony will be available virtually on the hospital’s Facebook page. Candles will be available until at the hospital’s Entrance F until Oct. 15. Online submissions for loved ones who have passed is available through Oct. 13.
Besides the 25 percent of pregnancies that end in miscarriage, one in 160 pregnancies end in stillbirth — not to mention infant death numbers from preterm labor, life-limiting conditions or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
