Widespread flooding has not developed after heavy rainfall starting Sunday night and continuing past sunrise Monday.
County-wide flood warnings for much of the KVOE listening area — southern Lyon, northwest Coffey and Osage counties in one warning, Greenwood County in the other, were both canceled early. There is now a river-based flood warning for the Salt Creek at Lyndon until 3 pm. The river could go above the 10-foot flood stage before noon, crest at 10.1 and then go below flood stage after noon.

5-9 am Monday: Flood warning posted for parts of Lyon, Coffey, Osage counties; flood warning covers Greenwood County
Heavy rainfall overnight has caused flooding concerns across parts of the KVOE listening area.
The National Weather Service a flood warning for southern Lyon, northwest Coffey and all of Osage counties — essentially areas along and south of the Kansas Turnpike — until 9:45 am. This includes Emporia, Hartford, Lyndon, Melvern, Neosho Rapids, Olpe, Osage City and Reading.
A flood warning is now in effect for Greenwood County until noon. This impacts all incorporated communities in Greenwood County.

In other storm-related developments, close to 80 Evergy customers in far northwest Emporia were without power for about two hours early Monday. The outage developed around 5:15 am. There is currently no word on what caused the outage.
Storms Sunday evening brought a risk of severe weather to Chase County, although nothing materialized there. Coffey County was under a separate severe thunderstorm warning, and golf-ball-sized hail was reported about six miles east of New Strawn. Damage reports are pending.

7:45 pm Sunday: Chase County severe thunderstorm warning canceled; heavy storms continue across area
Heavy thunderstorms are moving across the KVOE listening area Sunday evening.
Chase County was under a severe thunderstorm warning for nearly an hour for the risk of hail and wind. So far, there have been no reports of severe weather.
The thunderstorm that rolled over Emporia around 7 pm dropped 0.40 inches of rainfall before leaving the area. The same complex brought 0.25 inches to the Emporia Municipal Airport.
More storms are possible into early Monday.
