The number 4 ranked Emporia State soccer team rallied for a 5-3 win over Northeastern State Sunday.
Hannah Woolery gave Emporia State the early lead with a goal 20 minutes into the match.
Northeastern would score 3 goals in the final 12:47 of the 1st half, one on a penalty kick.
In the 2nd half, Emporia State answered with 4 goals. Aislinn Hughes scored in the 51st minute. Ashlyn Lakin tied the match with a goal in the 67th minute of play. Joanie Westcoat scored the go-ahead goal in the 71st minute of play on a shot that rolled thru the goalies’ legs.
Mackenzie Dimarco scored the final goal with over 8 minutes to play.
Coach Brian Sailor was pleased with the way they kept battling.
The Lady Hornets are now 11-0-1 and 5-0 in the MIAA.
They play at Central Oklahoma This coming Friday.
