Four area hospitals are receiving funding to help keep their frontline workers from taking other jobs.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced the allocations as part of the $50 million in the Frontline Hospital Workers Retention Plan.
Newman Regional Health is receiving over $147,000. Also, Coffey Health System in Burlington and Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka will receive just under $100,000 and Morris County Hospital in Council Grove will get almost $84,000.
Back in September, the state’s SPARK Executive Committee approved the funding as defined by the American Rescue Plan Act. The money can be used either for premium pay or for funding custom programs to improve retention.
Allocations are based on the number of licensed, acute and intensive care unit beds in each medical facility. Hospitals must submit applications by Oct. 29.
