There is now a reward posted after a hit-and-run incident in eastern Emporia earlier this week.
Lyon County Crime Stoppers has issued a reward of up to $1,000 after an SUV was apparently involved in a hit-and-run in the 100 block of Congress at some point before 3:50 am Oct. 11. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, based on a bumper left at the scene. Further details about this incident are pending.
Separately, Emporia Police are still investigating a hit-and-run from Sunday afternoon at Eighth and Sylvan. In that incident, a red minivan hit a car on the passenger side and continued without stopping. Police say the vehicle will have front-end damage, but additional information about the van and the driver have not been divulged. Crime Stoppers has not announced a reward in that case.
Crime Stoppers has issued a reward in an incident unrelated to the aforementioned hit-and-runs. Up to $1,000 is on the table as Lyon County deputies investigate two thefts of portably hydraulic corral components from two separate areas near Roads 370 and X. The components include solar-powered batteries, hoses and wiring. Suspect information has not been announced.
