The Fairgrounds Anderson Building transformed into a polling location Saturday thanks to a now-traditional event courtesy of the Lyon County Election Office.
The office’s annual off-site voting event saw local voters stop by the fairgrounds to cast their ballots for the 2021 general election. Lyon County Clerk Tammy Vopat says the off-site opportunity demonstrates the county’s commitment to making sure every resident has the opportunity to have their voice heard.
Vopat reminds residents that all elections are important, however, local elections such as this year’s are the ones that hit closest to home.
More than 130 residents stopped in to cast their ballots during Saturday’s event.
Saturday’s offsite event was a precursor to advanced voting which begins in Lyon County Monday. Advanced voting will continue 8 am to 5 pm weekdays until noon Nov. 1.
Election Office workers began sending out mail ballots to voters on Wednesday. The deadline to request a mail ballot is Oct. 26.
The general election is Nov. 2. As the election day draws closer residents are reminded to visit the KVOE-Community National Bank and Trust Voter Information page online at KVOE.com where you can find information on upcoming deadlines, Candidate Forums, advance voting procedures and polling locations.
