Emporia Fire helped to put out a combine fire that developed just south of Emporia on Tuesday evening.
Firefighters were called out to the 1400 block of Road J, about a mile south of town, after fire was reported around 8 pm. Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says a bearing failed in a roller, which caused radiant heat to develop.
Fuller says people on site turned the combine out of the wind, which helped to prevent further issues, and firefighters finished getting the situation under control. Minimal damage was reported. There were no injuries.
