The Humane Society of the Flint Hills has announced a restructuring of its operations at the Emporia Animal Shelter and new personnel to go along with that move.
Bailey Estes has been hired as the shelter’s Cat and Customer Service Coordinator. Estes has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and minor in philosophy from Emporia State and is currently enrolled in a zookeeper certification course. She also has a trap/neuter/release certification and bird care certification through Kansas City Bird Rescue.
Elita Baldridge, meanwhile, becomes the Dog and Shelter Enrichment Coordinator. Baldridge is an accredited dog trainer through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and has numerous certifications as a dog obedience instructor, fit dog instructor, trick dog evaluator and other titles.
Current Humane Society Director Stephanie Achille remains in her current role while also assuming the Animal Shelter’s Volunteer Coordinator duties on a temporary basis.
The Humane Society has parted ways with prior Animal Shelter director Peggy Perez, who held that title for 12 years. Achille says the Humane Society thanks Perez for her time and leadership of the Animal Shelter. Further comment on that topic is pending.
Achille, Baldridge and Estes will join KVOE’s 8:05 am newscast Friday with more information about the position announcements and the restructuring effort.
