If you need to spend an overnight at Newman Regional Health, bed space is still tight — and it’s a bit tighter than it was earlier this week.
In its report last week reflecting traffic between Sept. 29 and Oct. 2, Newman Regional Health announced a daily average of four available beds. Thursday’s report, reflecting data between Oct. 6-19, indicates an average of three beds per day.
The number of COVID-19 patients per day went from five between Sept. 29-Oct. 5 to six in the current report. Of the 46 hospitalized patients between July 1 and Oct. 19, 42 — or over 91 percent — have been unvaccinated.
Average patient transfer times now vary between 17 minutes and over two days.
At Coffey Health System, hospitalized COVID patients declined from three between Oct. 3-9 to one between Oct. 10-16. Positive tests declined from eight to five, while the number of tests declined from 88 to 62 week to week.
The average number of calls needed to transfer patients was at 1-2 last week after being at two the week before. The average transfer time decreased from 2.25 hours to one hour, while the transfer radius declined from 95 miles to 86.
