The Emporia High boys soccer team scored on a free kick with 26 seconds to play in the 2nd overtime to slip past Junction City with a 2-1 win Thursday night.
The Spartans received the free-kick when a handball was called just outside the penalty area and Jefry Linares scored the winning goal.
Edwin Maciel scored a goal in the first half. The match was tied at halftime at 1.
The Spartans are now 9-4-1 they play at Berean Academy Friday. The Spartans are currently in 4th place in the 5A West regional standings.
