Jobless figures held largely steady at the state level in the Kansas Department of Labor’s most current report.
Jobless rates went from 3.8 percent in August to 3.9 percent in September, but Labor Secretary Amber Schulz says there was a lot to like in the monthly report.
Locally, Emporia and Lyon County both fared better than the state average as unemployment went from 3.7 percent in August to 3.1 percent in September at both the city and county level.
Areawide, all counties had their jobless rates decline by at least 0.40 percentage points month to month. Chase County has the lowest unemployment rate areawide at 2.4 percent, but Morris and Wabaunsee counties are also below 3 percent. Greenwood County has the highest unemployment rate areawide at 3.3 percent.
