Emporia’s newest non-profit agency, Bloom House Youth Services, could well be up and running by the first of next year.
During a recent interview on KVOE’s Morning Show, Bloom House Youth Services Board President Clara Corn announced the agency has received a grant through the Federal Youth Services Bureau allowing them to purchase the former SOS shelter space at 310 West 11th. The former shelter will serve as a “basic center” for the agency which is focused on helping to get homeless youth off the streets and into a secure environment.
Corn says the board is extremely excited about the purchase as the space is much larger than they originally thought they would be able to afford.
She says the number of bedrooms, kitchen space and office space are all ideal for the agency’s mission.
According to Corn, the center should be fully operational by Jan. 1 of next year.
