Merit-based increases are coming for staff of Flint Hills Community Health Center.
During the monthly board of directors meeting, the board approved a merit increase of up to three percent for all eligible staff. CEO Renee Hively says staff eligibility will be based on the health center’s merit system which is overseen by the human resources department based off annual self and supervisor evaluations.
The merit increases are tentatively set to go into effect by mid-November.
In other business, the health center posted another month of financial gains.
During the meeting, the monthly financial report showed a net gain of nearly $52,000 for the month of September. This brings the health centers year to date gain to $550,000. This is the latest in a consistent string of positive net gains for the health center over the past two years.
Those gains began just prior to the conclusion of the center’s turnaround plan back in August of last year after several years of significant financial losses. Hively says early in the pandemic, much of the progress made through the turnaround plan was negated, however, the health center managed to get back to a positive financial position thanks in part to conservative management strategies and the willingness of staff to make sacrifices for the betterment of the center as a whole.
With 2021 beginning to wind down, Hively believes FHCHC is on a good track to again finish the calendar year with a positive ending financial balance.
The FHCHC Board of Directors will reconvene for their monthly meeting in November.
