It was a heartbreaking finish to an outstanding season for the Emporia High boys soccer team. The Spartans were shut out by Salina South 2-0 in a regional semi-final match. Playing without 4 starters Coach Victor Ibarra said they were not as sharp as they needed to be.
South scored the first goal in the 27th minute of play. They added a second goal in the 37th minute of play.
Emporia High had several opportunities to score in the 2nd half but could never find the back of the net.
