Kansas Senators Roger Marshall and Jerry Moran are announcing a $500,000 grant to the Kansas Department of Agriculture to help people in ag-related jobs to have better access to mental health resources.
The grant is part of the USDA’s Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network program and will be used to create a statewide ad campaign for the KansasAgStress.org website. It will also be used to develop “reusable” media content, reduce the stigma attached to mental health awareness and reduce the number of suicides in the ag industry.
KansasAgStress.org offers information about family support; mental health providers like CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness; assistance programs in areas like finance, law and food insecurity; and resources connected to the 2018 Farm Bill. Round-the-clock support is available by calling 800-447-1985.
