A minor delay could not derail the success of Big Brothers Big Sisters Serving Lyon County’s newest fundraising event Thursday evening.
The inaugural Brews and Bites fundraiser saw anywhere from 125-140 individuals enter the Granada Theatre to sample offerings from local drink and food distributors and enjoy some live music all to support the efforts of BBBS Serving Lyon County. Director Jacque Wellnitz says there were some concerns on how well the event would run given the delay that occurred earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
That being said, she tells KVOE News the evening could not have gone better.
Final totals are currently pending, however, Wellnitz tells KVOE News they are estimating the event may have generated right around $25,000 thanks to sponsorships, ticket sales and a live and silent auction. All funds raised will go to support local matches and help the organization expand its reach beyond just Lyon County into surrounding communities according to Wellnitz.
Participating vendors included Radius Brewing Company, Trolly House, Liquor Locker, Casa Ramos, The Sweet Granada, Fannestil Meats, Good’s Cash Saver and Walnut River.
Brews and Bites is the third fundraising event to be held this year supporting BBBS Serving Lyon County following the annual For Kid’s Sake Fundraiser which generated around $19,000 and the inaugural Big on the Block Party that took place back in June.
