Available bed space is as tight as it can get at Newman Regional Health, based on its weekly report.
The hospital says its daily average between Oct. 13-26 is one bed, down from three beds per day between Oct. 6-19.
Average daily traffic increased from six cases to eight in the most recent report. Of the 48 hospitalized patients since July 1, 43 — or 89 percent — have been unvaccinated.
Patient transfer times now vary between 30 minutes and 11 hours, depending on the situation.
At Coffey Health System, average patient transfer times increased from one hour between Oct. 10-16 to 2.5 hours between Oct. 17-22. The average transfer distance declined slightly from 86 to 81 miles. Hospitalized COVID patients went from one to two week-to-week.
