The advance voting process comes to an end at noon Monday.
County courthouses will open at 8 am Monday for one final morning before the general election Tuesday. So far, 1,100 people have taken advantage of the advance vote process in Lyon County, with 700 either voting at the Sept. 16 offsite voting event at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building or the courthouse since Sept. 18. Another 400 residents have submitted mail ballots.
Mayor, city council, city commission and school board positions are also on the ballot, and there are other special questions across the KVOE listening area. For special questions, Lyon County voters are being asked to extend a one-percent sales tax to 2037. Chase County voters are being asked to decide if liquor sales by the drink can be allowed in public places without any requirement that some of the gross receipts come from food sales. Osage County voters are asked to decide on a new nearly $20 million law enforcement facility in Lyndon to be funded by a half-cent sales tax.
KVOE will have complete election coverage starting shortly after the polls close at 7 pm Tuesday. Lyon County Clerk Tammy Vopat will preview the election at 8:20 am Monday on KVOE’s Morning Show.
