The Fuller Shop northeast of Emporia was busy for the fourth annual Gary Fuller Memorial Shootout on Saturday.
The event honors Fuller’s legacy and his longstanding support of 4-H activities. Fuller’s widow, Lisa Fuller, says he would have been proud of the atmosphere around Saturday’s event.
Lisa Fuller also noted the increase in community participation through sponsorships, donations of lifetime hunting licenses and the growth of the silent auction. She says auction donors increasingly seek her and other organizers out to start that process.
The shootout, where participants took aim at clay targets in several settings, continues the Fuller family’s support of 4-H. Lisa Fuller says that support is important — as is the push to get youths to experience the outdoors. Fundraising will purchase championship belt buckles for the Lyon County Fair, buy prizes for the Lyon County 4-H Spring Classic and fund scholarships for 4-H students.
