Investigations continue into a pair of house fires from the end of the work week in Lyon County.
Deputies continue their investigation into Thursday morning’s fire that destroyed a house at 200 West Maple in Hartford. The fire apparently started in the southwest corner of the uninhabited house, but the cause has not been determined. Lyon County arson investigators are working with the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office to determine what happened.
Deputies are also investigating after fire caused apparently moderate damage to 1341 Road R about five miles southeast of Emporia on Friday afternoon. Fire damage was limited to the kitchen, dining room and living room ceiling. The cause and origination point are both under investigation.
Nobody was hurt with either fire. If you have information about the West Maple Street fire in Hartford, call the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office at 620-341-3205 and ask for arson investigators Danny Broyles or Jody Meyers.
