After not being held the past 18 months due to COVID-19, Honor Flight is underway for USD 252 Southern Lyon County.
Veterans, students and district staff took off from Olpe shortly before 1 am. Superintendent Mike Argabright says a lot of fundraising is involved to make the trip happen twice a year, and he says it’s worth every penny for those involved.
Honor Flight pairs high school students with veterans and takes them on a whirlwind tour of Washington, D.C, including memorials, museums and national parks.
USD 252 had been holding two trips a year before the pandemic and is well into planning for its next trip this upcoming spring. All involved are fully vaccinated and will be masked essentially throughout the trip. All on board for this trip will return Tuesday evening.
