Notre Dame took full advantage of their size advantage on the way to a 104-47 win over the Emporia State womens basketball team Monday night.
The Irish out scored the Lady Hornets 62-22 in the paint and won the battle on the boards 55-28. Maya Dodson a 6-3 transfer from Stanford led Notre Dame with 24 points.
Emporia State struggled from the field shooting only 24 percent making 17 of 70 field goal opportunities. Notre Dame also blocked 10 shots.
Coach Toby Wynn called it a good learning opportunity.
Tre’Zure Jobe led Emporia State with 15 points. Kali Martin added 9 points making 3 of 5 three point shot attempts.
Emporia State did have 8 steals and forced 14 turnovers. The Lady Hornets turned the ball over 15 times.
The Lady Hornets open the season on November 12th when they play Harding in the MIAA/GAC Challenge in Joplin, Missouri.
