Repairs are complete and the Sertoma Club Train was back up and running this past weekend.
After being shut down indefinitely due to a mechanical issue, Sertoma Club Vice President Terri Summey says the club managed to repair the train’s generator just in time to give trick-or-treaters a ride during Sunday’s Boo in the Zoo.
At this time, there are no immediate plans for the train to be back up and running on a regular basis given the traditional train season came to a close back in September. That being said, Summey says the club is discussing running the train for a few special occasions later this year including during the Emporia Public Library’s annual Breakfast with Santa event in December.
While the train will not be running regularly until next spring, Summey says it is still available to be reserved for special events or parties. Those interested in reserving the train can contact the Sertoma Club by calling (620) 412-3806 or by messaging them on their Facebook page.
