The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for Chase and Greenwood counties from 3-9 am. Temperatures will be in the low to mid-30s with some subfreezing temperatures possible in central and southern Kansas, so people are told to cover their plants or bring them inside if possible..
There will not be a frost alert for Lyon County or other surrounding counties. Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties are in the National Weather Service Topeka coverage area, which does not issue frost alerts after Halloween because the forecast office considers the end of October as the end of the growing season. Chase and Greenwood county forecasts are handled by the Wichita office, which does issue frost alerts into November.
