The annual SOS Holiday Drive supporting residents in need is now underway through mid-December.
According to SOS Community Relations Coordinator Kari Wedel, the drive began earlier this month and already has over 80 individuals signed up to receive assistance this holiday season. Each year, the drive collects donations of essential items from clothing to hygiene products and even household supplies to assist SOS clients who may be leaving a volatile situation or restarting their lives.
Last year SOS served more than 100 individuals through the drive and is very hopeful they will top those totals this year. Wedel says it is very simple to get involved and adopt a family for the holidays.
In order to qualify for assistance through the holiday drive, individuals must be a client of SOS and cannot qualify for assistance through other charitable agencies such as the Salvation Army. Wedel says this requirement is simply to ensure they are serving the maximum amount of individuals possible.
For more information on the holiday drive and how you can get involved visit SOSKansas.com, email info@SOSKansas.com or call 620-343-8799. Wedel says they would like to have any and all donations collected for the drive by Dec. 17 at which time they will disperse them to clients.
