The Kansas Jayhawks outscored the Emporia State men’s basketball team 86-60 Wednesday night.
The first half featured 5 lead changes before the Jayhawks closed out the first 20 minutes on a 23-5 run to take a 26 point lead at halftime. The two teams played an even 2nd half with both teams scoring 35 points.
Emporia State Coach Craig Doty liked what he saw in the first half.
Emporia State was led by Tray Buchanan who finished with a game-high 19 points, making 11 of 11 free throws.
Mayuom Buom added 14 points and a team-high 6 rebounds.
Jumah’Ri Turner scored 13 points for the Hornets.
Kansas was led by Ochai Agbaji with 17 points, David McCormack finished with 16 points, Remy Martin added 15 points and Christian Braun scored 10 points.
Emporia State opens the season on November 13th against Southeastern Oklahoma State.
