The available bed space situation eased slightly at Newman Regional Health in its most recent report Thursday.
The hospital says it had an average of two free beds per day between Oct. 20 and Nov. 2. That was above the one bed per day average between Oct. 13-26.
Newman Regional Health is also processing an average of seven new COVID-19 patients a day, down from eight in the previous report. Average wait times for patient transfers range from 10 minutes to over 36 hours.
Newman Regional Health also reports a slight decrease in the percentage of unvaccinated patients needing hospitalizations. The percentage had been above 90 percent as recently as two weeks ago. It’s now at 87.8 percent, reflecting 43 of 49 unvaccinated patients needing a hospital stay since July 1.
