Active coronavirus cases in Lyon County have exceeded 100 for the first time in nearly a month.
Friday, Public Health reported 32 new cases putting the overall total at 5,655 cases since late last March. Just six recoveries were reported causing the active case total to rise to 109.
This is the highest active total since 111 cases were reported on Oct. 8. Of the 109 active cases, 23 are considered breakthroughs meaning infections in fully vaccinated residents.
Collectively, Public Health has identified 278 breakthrough cases.
Deaths increased for the second straight reporting period from 91 to 92 with one case pending final cause information from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Active hospitalizations increased from three to four.
