Osage County deputies have arrested a Kansas City man after an alleged chase Friday.
Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells says a deputy tried to facilitate a traffic stop on Interstate 35 about two miles east of the Melvern exit just after noon, but the driver, later identified as 21-year-old Jesus Alejos-Reyna, allegedly failed to yield and deputies gave chase. Wells says the chase ended over 35 miles to the east near Wellsville after law enforcement used tire deflation devices.
Wells says narcotics were found in the vehicle, which was listed as stolen.
Alejos-Reyna was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing stolen property, possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute and felony flee and elude. Formal charges are pending.
Franklin County deputies, Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and officers with the Ottawa and Wellsville police departments helped with the case.
