The Emporia State soccer team shut out Northeastern State 3-0 in the quarterfinal round of the MIAA tournament Sunday.
The two teams played a scoreless first half. Emporia State would break the tie on a Mackenzie Dimarco goal in the 55th minute of play. Two minutes later Aislinn Hughes put the Hornets in front 2-0.
Hannah Woolery scored off a corner kick in the 84th minute of play to give Emporia State a 3-0 lead. Northeastern State had 11 shots but only 1 was on goal.
Coach Bryan Sailer said the wind in the first half caused some challenges.
Emporia State will play Northwest Missouri State Friday in the semi-finals of the MIAA tournament in Warrensburg, Missouri.
The other semi-final has Central Missouri playing Central Oklahoma.
