If you have the chance to stop into the Emporia Animal Shelter this week be sure to thank the dedicated staff for all the work they do in the local community.
This is Animal Shelter Appreciation Week and to start it off Monday morning, Humane Society of the Flint Hills Director Stephanie Achille and recently appointed cat and customer service coordinator Bailey Estes joined KVOE’s Primetime Newsmaker Monday morning to discuss some of the activities and plans for the week. According to Achille, the week will be spent highlighting both the new staff and procedures in place at the Emporia Animal Shelter and the Humane Society itself as well as outlining many of the society’s upcoming goals for the new year.
In addition to highlighting their staff, the shelter is also in the midst of two special sales opportunities to help residents connect with their furever friends. Achille says one of these sales is specifically for local and area veterans in honor of Veterans Day.
While Animal Shelter Appreciation week concludes Sunday, local residents have the entire month to take advantage of a special buy-one-get-one-free sales opportunity for all cats and kittens. The BOGO sale will see residents pay $40 for two cats or $75 for two kittens and comes at a time where the feline population at the shelter is at a high quantity.
Animal Shelter hours are 10 am to 5 pm Saturday through Wednesday and by appointment only Thursdays and Fridays. For more information find the Humane Society of the Flint Hills on Facebook or call the Emporia Animal Shelter at 620-340-6345.
