The doors of the new Dynamic Distribution facility are now wide open.
Dynamic Discs staff, Emporia leadership and local residents all gathered at 840 Overlander Tuesday morning for the official ribbon cutting on the new facility. Tuesday’s ceremony was the culmination of a year-long relocation effort for the disc golf distributor after it had outgrown its previous facility at 3601 West Sixth.
Dynamic Discs Owner Jeremy Rusco says it feels great to see how far the company has come after it began as a simple eBay business back in 2005. Rusco says the new facility is a win-win-win for the company, the sport of disc golf and the Emporia community.
Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas President Kent Heerman had a large hand in facilitating the relocation. He says not only does the move help facilitate growth for the company, but it also provides several “spin-off benefits” for the local community.
Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jeanine McKenna says aside from the revenue and benefits the company helps bring to the community, the journey of Dynamic Discs is simply an inspiring story.
The facility previously housed the Detroit Reman plant and warehouse before the company shut it down back in February of last year. The new distribution warehouse quadruples the space of the previous Dynamic Disc’s previous facility and has allowed the company to expand its number of employees from 45 to 75 over the past year.
Rusco says they are hoping to have right around 100 employees by the same time next year.
Tuesday’s ribbon-cutting comes as the city of Emporia is getting set to host the Disc Golf World Championships next year as well as the traditional slate of disc golf events including the Dynamic Discs open.
