Kansas tax revenues again outpaced expectations for October.
Total collections were over $662 million, almost 19 percent or over $104 million above projections and 11 percent or $66 million higher than October 2020 numbers.
As has been the case this year, higher-than-expected totals were seen across all categories. Individual income tax collections were almost $47 million higher than expected. Corporate income tax collections were $25 million higher than predictions. Retail sales tax numbers were above projections by almost $18 million. Compensating use tax income was almost $13 million more than forecast.
All categories also beat October 2020 income by at least 6 percent.
Revenue Secretary Mark Burghart says difficult steps taken early in the COVID-19 pandemic last year helped the state rebound faster than expected and also have moved the state towards “a sustainable and healthy economic future.”
