Active coronavirus cases continued their moderate climb in the latest data report from Lyon County Public Health.
The active total rose for the fourth straight reporting period from 120 to 139 after 40 new cases and 21 recoveries were reported Wednesday morning. The overall case total now stands at 5,726 since late last March.
Of the 139 active cases, 31 have been identified as breakthroughs meaning infections in fully vaccinated residents. A total of 298 collective breakthrough cases have been identified in Lyon County.
The number of deaths remained steady at 92 with one case pending final cause information from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Active hospitalizations increased from three to six.
