A special recount bore no changes in a tightly contested race for a seat on the USD 251 North Lyon County School Board Wednesday.
The recount was requested Wednesday morning by Tammie Reed who was defeated by Perry Peterson by one vote (133-132) in the recent general election. The Lyon County Clerk’s Office recounted the ballots Wednesday morning and presented them to the Lyon County Board of Canvassers for certification Wednesday afternoon.
County Clerk Tammy Vopat says recounts in races this tight are common.
Vopat says there were a total of 251 ballots counted with no change in the results.
Wednesday’s recount followed the official vote canvas Tuesday morning which showed a voter turnout of 25.59 percent. You can view the full election results online at Lyoncounty.org.
