The Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas is on pace to have a new president selected before the end of the year.
During the RDA Board of Directors monthly meeting Friday morning, Board Chair Jon Geitz stated that finalist interviews for the president’s position are set to take place next week. The days and times for the meetings are not being announced as they will not be open to the public.
Geitz says plans are to have an offer for the new president ready for approval by the board’s next meeting in December.
In other discussions, Geitz canvassed board members for recommendations of a new member Friday. He tells KVOE News the board would like to have a new member representing an area of economic development that is not currently present on the board.
In other business, RDA President Kent Heerman presented an update on the organization’s partnership with Research on Investment. The RDA secured the firm last year to help with researching potential businesses that would be a good fit to the community.
Heerman says those efforts were successful.
According to Heerman, one of the potential businesses is scheduled to make a visit to Emporia next year.
The RDA Board will reconvene in December.
