Repair work will keep a busy rail crossing closed through the remainder of the week into the upcoming weekend.
The Lyon County Emergency Communications Center says the rail crossing at Commercial Street which closed for repairs Sunday afternoon, will remain closed at least through Saturday. The full scope of repair work on the crossing has not been detailed.
In a separate note, the Mechanic Street underpass is now back open. The ubderpass was closed for repair work by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad to repair the rail bridge above the underpass.

A busy rail crossing in downtown Emporia is set to be shut down Sunday.
According to the Lyon County Emergency Communications Center, RoadSafe Traffic Systems is closing the Commercial Street railroad crossing starting at noon for repairs. The exact scope of repair work and the time lime for work to be completed is unknown.
Drivers in the area will need to find an alternate route of travel as the work takes place.
