Arkansas Tech jumped out to a 13-0 lead and never looked back on the way to a 77-61 win over the Emporia State mens basketball team Sunday.
The Hornets shot 28 percent in the 1st half making 7 of 25 shots and 1 of 12 three point shots. They trailed by as many as 27 points in the first half.
The Hornets did make a run in the second half cutting the deficit to 9 twice. The run was led by Tray Buchanan who finished with 29 points. Jumah’Ri Turner added 16 points and Peyton Rogers-Schmidt finished with 14 points.
Emporia State Coach Craig Doty said it was not only the cold shooting that cost them. Emporia State was out rebounded 46-24 by Arkansas Tech.
With the loss the Emporia State men fall to 1-1 for the season. They are scheduled to play at Rockhurst on Wednesday.
