Interest in vaccinations for school-aged children between 5 and 11 is not quite at the same level seen for initial and booster doses from older demographics in Lyon County.
That’s according to Lyon County Public Health Public Information Officer Justin Ogleby who recently spoke with KVOE News. The conversation comes as vaccine clinics are set to take place over the next week for school-aged children between 5 and 11 within USD 253 school buildings.
Ogleby says the number of students who have signed He tells KVOE News those numbers track with Public Health’s original expectations.
While it meets Public health’s expectations, Ogleby says the current numbers are still comparatively lower than the number of appointments for recent booster clinics which have all been completely full. Ogleby says there are a few contributors to this trend, namely most individuals having the perception that children 17 and under are not at a high risk of severe infections compared to other age groups.
Public Health will be hosting three vaccination clinics over the course of the month for children ages 5 to 11 with the first taking place at Riverside Elementary on Tuesday. A second clinic will take place Thursday at Walnut Elementary School followed by a third clinic next Tuesday, at Timmerman Elementary.
