The Emporia State soccer team defeated Central Missouri 1-0 to win their first-ever MIAA post-season tournament championship Sunday.
Aislinn Hughes scored the lone goal on a header off a corner kick by Hannah Woolery in the 57th minute of play.
Emporia State Coach Bryan Sailer said they had to battle for the win.
Coach Sailer said they earned this title.
With the win, the Lady Hornets secure the MIAA automatic bid to the NCAA soccer tournament. The selection show will be held Monday evening at 5 pm. A watch party will be held at the Emporia Country Club.
