Match Day is here and is underway.
Online donations officially began at midnight Monday morning and will continue at www.emporiamatchday.com until midnight Tuesday morning, but residents have had a chance to donate early and have been taking advantage of that opportunity. Emporia Community Foundation Director Becky Nurnberg says the 25 different community groups from across the KVOE listening area have also been hard at work to maximize their totals.
Residents can donate at the Community Foundation office, 527 Commercial, by using the alley immediately west of the office during normal business hours.
This is the eighth year for Match Day in Emporia. Last year’s event produced a record of over $322,000 for the different groups involved. Matching funds totaling $60,000 are being provided by the Clint Bowyer 79 Fund; Jones Testamentary Trust; Preston Family Trust; Reeble Foundation; Trusler Foundation; and donations from Nick and Jan Laurent and Fred and Paula Neuer. After Nurnberg joined KVOE’s Newsmaker segment at 7:15 am Monday and KVOE had broadcasts from the Community Foundation office, the Emporia Masonic Lodge donated $6,000 total to 16 of the 25 participating groups.
Totals will be announced on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 30, here on KVOE and KVOE.com.
