The location has been finalized for a public meeting on the state’s redistricting process in Emporia next week.
Emporia State University’s Veterans Hall of Honor will host the meeting on Nov. 23 between 5:30-7:30 pm. The Veterans Hall of Honor is inside the Memorial Union. The meeting had been announced several weeks ago, but the location was pending until Wednesday.
This is the second round of public comment this year as state lawmakers lay the groundwork for the formal redistricting process during the 2022 legislative session. The legislative boundaries are redrawn every decade shortly after the Census numbers are finalized.
Residents who want to provide oral testimony can do so by calling 785-296-3181 or by emailing redistricting@klrd.ks.gov no later than Nov. 22. Residents need to let organizers know if they plan to provide input in person or virtually. Residents wanting to provide written testimony are told to email a PDF copy of their statements to redistricting@klrd.ks.gov.
