One lucky resident is about to go on a shopping spree like no other Saturday.
The third annual Emporia Rotary Club Grocery Grab will be taking place Saturday morning inside Good’s Cash Saver. For the past month, residents have purchased tickets for the event in the hopes of being drawn as the lucky dasher.
Of the hundreds of individuals who bought tickets for the event six finalists were selected last week and include:
*Susan Cates
*Rob Brooks
*Carol Alderman
*Sandra Butler
*Corky’s Cupboard
*The John and Frances Ice Kitchen and Food Pantry.
Rotary Club member Shirley Antes runs through the rules of the Grocery Grab.
The lucky winner will be drawn at 6:45 am Saturday morning with the other five finalists receiving a $50 gift card. The winner will then proceed to race through the aisles and grab as many groceries as they can in the allotted time.
Last year’s winner Scott Shreves managed to clear just over $600 in items for Abundant Harvest. The cost of the groceries will be covered by the Rotary Club using proceeds from ticket sales with the remaining funds going to support Family Promise of the Flint Hills.
KVOE will have coverage of the grocery grab on Facebook Live Saturday morning.
