The Emporia State soccer team opened NCAA Tournament play with a 2-0 win over Northwest Missouri State Friday.
Aislinn Hughes scored the 1st goal in the 18th minute of play.
Alexis Cole scored the 2nd goal in the 79th minute of play.
Coach Bryan Sailer liked the way they responded to the Northwest defense.
The Lady Hornets will play Bemidji State on Sunday.
Bemidji State defeated Central Oklahoma on PKs 5-3 after the 2 teams played scoreless soccer thru 2 overtimes.
Sunday’s match will be played at 2 pm on the ESU Pitch.
