The Kansas jobless rate remained steady between September and October.
The unemployment rate held at 3.9 percent, down from 4.7 percent a year ago. Labor Secretary Amber Shultz says some economic sectors are getting close to pre-pandemic speed.
Private-sector jobs increased by 2,500, while government jobs dipped by 1,400 from September to October.
Locally, Emporia held steady at 3 percent month-to-month after being at 3.4 percent a year ago. Lyon county dipped from 3 percent to 2.9 percent after being at 3.4 percent a year ago.
Areawide, all counties were either flat month-to-month or had modest declines. Chase County has the area’s lowest jobless rate at 2.3 percent. Coffey County has the highest at 3.4 percent.
