An Americus woman escaped serious injury following a rollover accident just outside of Emporia Tuesday afternoon.
According to Lyon County Deputy Jeff Rodriguez, Emporia/Lyon County EMS and deputies were called to the 2100 block of Road F5, four miles northwest of Emporia, shortly after 1 pm Tuesday afternoon. Rodriguez reports that eighteen-year-old Alexia Domenech of Americus was traveling southbound in a 2008 Dodge Caliber when she became distracted by her dog who was in the vehicle causing her to lose control.
Domenech overcorrected causing the vehicle to roll into a ditch. Domenech was taken to Newman Regional Health Center with what are being called non-life-threatening injuries. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The dog was unharmed and turned over to Domenech’s family.
