The parking lot at Emporia’s Church of Christ is expected to be crowded Thursday as an annual holiday event makes a return.
The church’s community Thanksgiving meal will be served Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm. Pastor Neil Taylor says they have plenty of food available for any and all residents and he does not anticipate they will run out early.
The day’s menu will again be a traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey and “all of the fixings” such as mashed potatoes, green beans, corn and an array of homemade desserts. When asked if they were concerned about any supply shortages due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Taylor says they were well prepared for this possibility.
Residents will have the option of dine-in or carry-out for the meal, however, Taylor encourages residents to utilize the carryout option as there is limited seating within the church. Residents are asked to enter the church parking lot through the 12th avenue entrance and proceed through the line as directed when picking up meals Thursday.
